Click on extra than bitsetting. Good point Binkie Thanks all Last edited: Apr 10, I am puzzled though why those options are greyed out in Nero - the only time I see them greyed out is when I pick a drive that doesn't support booktyping and your Liteon does support it. I'm puzzled too! Just check your disc and make sure you select the right one. Current Setting : Once you set the "Change For" field, ImgBurn will tell you automatically what the drive has the booktype for a certain media.

When you finished the settings, click "Change" to start the booktype converting and after successful booktype changing, click "OK". Tips : ImgBurn is only available for Windows. It does seem odd that Nero isn't liked by many players. But, that is no big deal to me. If it's just a software problem, that would be great.

Since the DVD's play fine in all the computer based dvd players, and since scandisk showed all the discs were perfect, with no errors, I would assume it is a softare issue. I still am at a loss as to why I can only burn at maximum speed of media, and can't choose a slower burn speed. Drisley, I noticed in your picture that there are both up and down arrows in the write speed window. Is it posible you need to click on the up arrow?

Which version of Nero are you running? Cheers, Captain Diode. I am using the latest version. In addition, like I mentioned, if I use a program like DVDDecrypter , which lets you select any speed, it only burns at the maximum speed. Here, I used a 2. As you can see, it's actually burning at 2. And as I said if a firmware has only one writing strategy 4x for 4x media then no burning program will write at slower speed.

Here is the official reply from Aopen very fast btw! They do not have the same format and cannot select speeds to burn.

They only burn at that speed the disc are rated. Its the way the dyes are on the disc. AOpen Technical Support ". Just says "Searching".

This isn't user error, because there is little to no user intervention copying with the ISO method. Next step, try the media included with the drive. I would HOPE however, that the drive isn't that picky about media since Memorex is a fairly good brand. If that doesnt work, back to the store it goes I guess.

If you don't believe me, consider this: These discs are meant to also be compatible with settop DVD recorders, no? Settop recorders record in realtime. Therefore, if those discs are compatible with the recorder some aren't , they must be able to record at 1x in addition to their rated speed.
