I have used GPS's before but have never owned one. I recently purchased a TomTom One 3rd Edition. The unit is very easy to use and has all the bells and whistles that one might find essential and lacks other options that are, well, "optional". The speaker is very loud at it's maximum setting and does a great job telling you which lane you need to be in volume is adjustable.
The screen is not as big as ones in the TomTom XL series but this is a good thing in my opinion as it takes up less real estate on my window 3. The first thing I did after purchasing a used TomTom off of Ebay was to update the map to the latest map version. Updating the map was pretty easy to do. If you've ever used a computer it's fairly easy, however, this task may be more difficult for novices. If you plan on going this route to save some money please make sure on TomTom's website that the model of GPS unit you are buying is still be able to have the maps updated.
The maps on some of the older TomTom units are not able to be updated thus rendering the unit almost obsolete. Long story short: Good GPS unit, easy to use, still functional, small screen, loud speaker, simple. I'd rate it 7. Read full review. Tom Tom One 3rd Edition is a nice small unit. I used it on my way to work after I received it, just to see how it works , and the directions it gave me were ok, not the fastest route though. It does recalculate your route if you go a different way then the unit shows which is a great feature if you are driving somewhere new to you.
Over all not a bad device. One of the features that makes the TomTom so delightful to use is that it is not necessary to "Spell City" every single time a new route is requested. The TomTom assumes the next route you seek is in the same city as the one last completed. Only if the user is seeking an address in a different city does the user need to select a new city.

The LE is a special model that only Best Buy is carrying. The LE does have multi destination routing which is why it is generally preferred over the ONE 3rd Edition which doesn't.
Well, BB has it for on black friday! Which is the good news, the bad of course is youd better get their about midnight on thanksgiving. Thank you very much, Tim and Ecs ,for your clear guide. Last year, first people who got the happy tickets lined at the gates at 5pm the day before!! I only hope that I can get a black-friday price through the website. Thank you again. Check my thread, im looking for the next best, only because I dont wanna brave BB and would still like to get a good unit at a good price.
Keep in mind that the LE probably is going to be history after BF except for a few returns from people who were told by BB personnel that the pricematch would work for BF deals  but it may still be possible to pick up an older TomTom one called the 2nd Edition.
If you get it from a store, you should be able to update the software on line and talk TomTom into giving you a free update of the maps within 30 days of purchase to 6. You need the latest maps in order to be able to use Mapshare to share POIs with other users. Thank you, JeepLover. Does Tomtom 2nd have multi destinations planed as LE does? Does it also has compass?
I kliek this feature If so, I can get it. The thing is, I'm a little confused I was looking at the specs for the LE on the Best Buy site and it says it doesn't have the voice prompting? Is that correct? I know I definitely want the voice prompts, otherwise I would still to looking at maps and directions as I drive kinda difficult when driving at night. Does anyone know for sure if the LE has voice prompting?
Though, I guess I can always get it if I can and return it if it's not right, huh? Is that correct. Thanks for your help, guys! I just ordered the 3rd Ed thru circuitcity.
